What are the tests performed in an IVF lab?

Nowadays, most hospitals have started installing a modular OT, which is a reflection of modern technology. The reason for setting up a modular operation theater in hospitals is that they can provide better surgical care to their patients. These modern forms of operation theaters also aid surgeons as well as other medical staff considerably in performing their jobs perfectly and comfortably. Even the most critical surgical procedures can be made simple using a modular operation theater.

A well-designed modular OT comes with all the essential treatment tools as well as other infrastructures to make the treatment process in hospitals a breeze. It comes with a complete suite of treatment essentials, including a laminar airflow OT table, and an air purifier that purifies the inside air of the operation theater through an Air Handling Unit and HEPA filter. The centralized cooling system of the module helps hospitals have better control over the health of the surgical environment. The system prevents the development of pathogens in the operation theater.  Thus, there are little to no odds for the development of surgical room diseases or complications after the surgical procedure.

An IVF lab is an ideal source to test three important hormones of couples who are incapable of becoming a parent. These hormones include

1. AMH, which shows the plummeting ovarian reserve

2. FSH determines the number of eggs left over

3. Estradiol, the female hormone

If these three hormones are not at the optimal level, they may affect the effectiveness of the In Vitro Fertilization treatment. The IVF doctor has to take appropriate steps to bring them to the optimum condition to make the treatment successful.

Some of the other tests that are being carried out in an IVF lab before starting the treatment include:

  • Ovarian reserve testing
  • Tubal Patency test
  • Semen evaluation
  • Prolactin test
  • Screening for communicable diseases
  • Mock embryo transfer test

The above-mentioned IVF tests conducted in a lab will make sure that the issues, like miscarriage, irregularities in the embryo, or any common disease or infection that could influence the health and probability of successful childbirth are eliminated to the highest level.
