Some Common Requirements for the Ideal OT Lights

Be it any hospital or a nursing home, the facility and hospital furniture play a crucial role in ensuring that the surgeries are carried out in the best possible way. Among the various equipment used in the operating room, the surgical lights are of significant importance. Here are the few things that any ideal operation theater light must possess:

Homogenous Light Source: When it comes to the ideal OT lights, they need to be homogenous lights; so that despite obstacles such as the surgeon’s hands or heads, it offers required illumination on the cavity of various depth and lengths.

Color Rendition: The color rendering index refers to the quantitative measure of the capacity of a light in revealing colors of different objects comparing with the natural lights. Therefore, an ideal light for the surgical theaters in hospitals needs to abide by the CRI; so that surgeons can differentiate the true color of the tissues inside a cavity.

Not Generating Excessive Heat: This particular hospital furniture is included in the surgical suites so that the surgical site stays perfectly illuminated for optimally visualizing small-scale objects at different depth in the body cavities and incisions. Being turned on for as long as the surgical procedure extends, these lights need to radiate as less heat as possible.

Backup Feature Must Be There: In cases of any dispute of the power supply, an ideal surgical light head needs to possess immediate backup feature. It needs to be restored within max 5 seconds with a minimum 50% of the earlier lux intensity and within 40 seconds it should go back to its original brightness.

The ultimate purpose of the OT lights is to provide bright light over the operation table during the surgeries, without causing any shadows. As long as the lights installed in the operation rooms qualify the criteria mentioned above, they are meant to serve their purpose flawlessly.
